PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and quantitatively evaluate corrosion even when a magnetic material of an evaluation object is covered with a nonmagnetic material. SOLUTION: A device for quantitatively evaluating the corrosion by measuring a wall thickness reduction amount of the magnetic material covered with the nonmagnetic material, or of the uncovered magnetic material, has a magnetic field generating means for generating a magnetic field including the magnetic material in a magnetic path, a GMR (Giant Magnetic-Resistive effect) sensor having a GMR element for detecting a magnetic flux leaked from the magnetic material, and for converting a change of the magnetic flux into an electric signal, and a wall thickness reduction amount calculating means for calculating the wall thickness reduction amount of the magnetic material, based on the electric signal.
