PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cutter-bit loading gate mechanism of a shield machine, which can reduce costs because it is structurally simple, and which has no problem associated with a space. SOLUTION: This cutter-bit loading gate mechanism comprises a gate member 46c which is arranged in such a manner that a cylindrical part 5 of a cutter head 3 and the side of a cutter spoke 7 can/cannot communicate with each other, and a jack 47 for driving the gate member 46c so as to open/close it. The gate member 46c is provided in the cylindrical part 5 of the cutter head in such a manner as to be capable of advancing/retreating in the axial direction of the shield machine while corresponding to each cutter spoke 7 into which the cutter bit 11 is to be loaded.
