A mono or binocular telescope has a carrier 6 on which are mounted in relatively adjusted position an objective 4 and a prism system 7, the carrier being tightly located in a casing 2 carrying an eye-piece 3. The casing and the carrier are made of the same, preferably plastics, material such as polycarbonate. The plate 5 of the carrier 6 is formed with a mount 10 forming a light shaft 11 for an exit prism 9 and a shaft 12 for an entry prism 8 which together with prism 9 form a Porro system. The abutment face 13 for the exit prism 9 and the abutment face 14 of the entry prism 8 are co-planar. Key means, composed of a key member 17 integrally formed with plate 5 and a key member 18 tightly wedged into place presses the hypotenuse face of the prism 9 tightly against the abutment face 13 of the carrier, which is also provided with holes 19 for adjusting screws.
