A method of producing a preform is disclosed, wherein the preform has at least a layer of a polyester resin and is formed by the compression-forming. The preform is provided suppressing the thermal decomposition of the resin at the time of forming the preform, and effectively suppressing a drop in the inherent viscosity and the formation of the acetaldehyde.
