PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain saw constituted so as to reduce the exhaust sound propagated to a worker to improve a work environment. SOLUTION: The chain saw 1 is equipped with a main body 3 in which an engine for driving a saw chain 21 is housed so as to be horizontally placed, a top handle 41 provided above the main body 3 and the muffler 6 arranged under the engine, and an exhaust opening 640 for exhausting an exhaust gas to the outside from the main body 3 is opened to the main body 3 so as to be turned forward from the main body 3. Accordingly, the exhaust gas can be exhausted to the front of the exhaust gas main body 3 and the exhaust sound is also propagated forward to reduce the magnitude of the exhaust sound heard by the worker to improve the work environment.
