A method and a system for providing traffic information are provided to remarkably reduce the amount of data to be transmitted by searching a vehicle image from an captured image of a vehicle flow, generating vehicle location information from the vehicle image, compressing/transmitting the vehicle location information to a user terminal, and enabling the user terminal to reconfigure/display a traffic information screen to a user. A vehicle location information generator(501) generates the vehicle location information by searching the vehicle image from the captured image of the vehicle flow. A communicator(502) compresses and transmits the vehicle location information to the user terminal. The user terminal reconfigures the traffic information screen by decompressing the vehicle location information and provides the reconfigured traffic information screen to the user. The user terminal outputs a vehicle object image by outputting a vehicle object image and composing a background screen based on the vehicle location information. The vehicle location information includes more than one of measurement time, coordinates, direction, and the number of the vehicle, a position of a camera. |
