PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersing agent for nanoparticles, for dispersing nanoparticles having a surface, on which a cap molecule has been bonded, in an epoxide group-containing polymeric substrate, a method for dispersing nanoparticles using the dispersing agent, and a nanoparticle-containing thin film containing the dispersing agent. SOLUTION: This dispersing agent for nanoparticles having a surface on which a cap molecule has been bonded is represented by chemical formula 1, wherein A represents a group selected from the group consisting of substituted or unsubstituted 1-30C alkyl groups, substituted or unsubstituted 1-30C alkenyl groups and the like; R<SB>1</SB>to R<SB>4</SB>each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R<SB>5</SB>represents a group selected from the group consisting of -H, -CH<SB>3</SB>, -OH, -NH<SB>2</SB>, a carboxyl group or its salt, a sulfonic acid group or its salt, and a phosphoric acid group or its salt; and n is an integer of 2 to 45.
