The foot support plate is shaped so that the plate pivot axis remains at least substantially centrally oriented with respect to this plate. The free ends of the bracket-shaped main part of the stirrup cooperate in a balanced pivoting manner with the plate, e.g. via split pins. The plate is pivotally connected to the stirrup bracket, the latter comprising a centrally positioned upper part which cooperates with a means for rotatably mounting a vertically oriented journal. The upper part and journal can cooperate in a pivoting manner with the end of a stirrup strap.
