An apparatus and a method for preventing a call drop in a mobile communication system are provided to maintain a call-connected state for a preset time in case a mobile station momentarily fails in receiving an SACCH(Slow Associated Control CHannel) block. An apparatus for preventing a call drop in a mobile communication system comprises a mobile station(10) and a network(20). In case the mobile station(10), connected to a call, is faced with a momentary reception-disable state, the mobile station(10) notifies the network(20) of a momentary reception-disable mode, and maintains the present RLT(Radio Link Timeout) value for a preset time. In this case, the mobile station(10) can use a measurement report message to notify the network(20) that the mobile station(10) is in the momentary reception-disable mode. Receiving the measurement report message, the network(20) maintains the call connection for the mobile station(10) for a preset time.
