摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and the like for increasing chemical reaction rates, rates of mass transfer, and/or detectability, etc. and controlling the location of at least a portion of a sample or analyte in a method and an apparatus for analyte manipulation using an electric field. SOLUTION: An analyte-manipulation device is used to move a polarizable analyte of interest with respect to a sample holder. The device is configured to hold the analyte and includes at least two coextensive, elongated, electrically-conductive members disposed in spaced apart relation with respect to one another, the members and the holder are adapted for relative movement between a first position wherein at least a portion of the members is disposed within the holder, and a second position wherein the members are disposed outside of the holder, and an AC power source is adapted for electrical communication with the electrically-conductive members.
