PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device control system in which a controller specifies a recorder unit in a recording and reproducing device having a plurality of recorder units and operations are performed by every recorder unit, the controller and the recording and reproducing device. SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing device control system has a television set 100 and a video recorder 200 having the plurality of recorder units. The television set 100 has a state management table 103 which holds an address, a recorder ID and a recording state and a recording and reproducing device control part 104 which extracts the recorder ID from a recording information response to record it in the state management table 103 and creates recording stop information from a recording state of the recorder ID read from the state management table 103, the video recorder 200 has a control part 202 of the plurality of recorder units which selects a recorder unit which performs recording based on the recording information and creates the recording information response in which a recorder ID of the selected recorder unit is input.
