PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hairsetting composition which no longer has disadvantages of conventional technology such as ease of wash off, the solubility, and texture of the treated hair and setting power, etc. SOLUTION: The hairsetting composition comprises as film-formers copolymers based on t-butyl acrylate or t-butyl methacrylate having a K value of from 10 to 50 which are obtainable by free-radical polymerization of (A) from 30 to 72 wt.% of t-butyl acrylate as monomer A, (B) from 10 to 28 wt.% of methacrylic acid as monomer B, and (C) from 3 to 60 wt.% of ethyl acrylate or a mixture of the ethyl acrylate and N-t-butyl acrylamide as monomers C, (where at least one of the monomers C produces a homopolymer having a glass transition temperature of less than 30°C.), the carboxyl groups of the copolymers being partially or completely neutralized.
