摘要 <p>A CE(Channel Element) allocation method of a BTS(Base Transceiver Station) in a WCDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) system is provided to support both basic calls and HSDPA(High Speed Downlink Packet Access) calls by enabling a BTS, in which a BCHA(BTS Channel Element HSDPA Board Assembly) which supports an HSDPA function and a BCEA(BTS Channel Element Board Assembly) which doesn't support the HSDPA function, are installed together, to allocate a CE suitably according to the type of a terminal. A BTS, if a CE allocation request is received from an RNC according to a call setup request from a terminal, checks type of the terminal(201,203). In case the terminal is not an R5 terminal, the BTS searches for a BCEA, a channel card having the minimum load among all available channel cards(209). The BTS confirms whether more than two channel cards have been obtained(213). If only one channel card has been detected, the BTS selects the obtained channel card(217). Then, the BTS searches for a DSP(Digital Signal Processor) having the minimum load among DSPs of the selected channel card(219). The BTS checks whether more than two DSPs have been obtained(221). If only one DSP has been detected, the BTS selects the DSP(225). Finally, the BTS allocates arbitrary downlink and uplink CEs in the selected DSP(227).</p>
