REFRIGERATOR AND CONTROLLING METHOD THEREOF

A refrigerator and a control method thereof are provided to improve refrigerating system for realizing target temperatures for freezing and refrigerating compartments in a substantially same time, thereby preventing overcooling of the freezing compartment and reducing power consumption. A refrigerator includes a control part(20), a temperature sensing part(21) for sensing a cavity temperature of a freezing or refrigerating compartment. A memory(23) stores the temperature values sensed by the temperature sensing part and target temperature values. A driving part(24) is controlled by the control part and has a compressor and a blower. A refrigerant flow rate control valve(13) is controlled in an opening degree thereof by the control part in such a manner that the valve is started to be opened before the cavity temperature of the freezing compartment, which is sensed by the temperature sensing part, reaches the target temperature thereof until the cavity temperature reaches the target temperature. The valve is opened by a uniform interval.
