An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to inhibit the diurnal variance of a domain by determining the aligning direction of an entire domain of a line-shape structure, thereby improving the overshoot. A pair of substrates has electrodes and vertical alignment layers. A liquid crystal is inserted between a pair of substrates and has the negative dielectric constant anisotropy. An alignment inhibition structure is installed at the substrates, respectively in order to control the alignment of the liquid crystal. The alignment inhibition structure is formed by plural structure units(30S,32S). The LCD has the protrusions(30,32) of upper and lower substrates. The plural structure units have nearly the same shape and are divided by the change of the shape or cutting. The structure units of the protrusions of the upper and lower substrates are arrayed in parallel with each other.
