PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection system for an engine which makes a fuel-injection valve quickly inject the fuel appropriately in starting up the engine to improve the start-up performance of the engine. SOLUTION: An AC generator 21 generates AC power by impartation of driving power to a crankshaft of the engine 10. The power of the AC generator 21 is regulated by a regulator 23 e.g. to 14 V. A normally-closed type relay 25 is connected to a fuel pump 15, which is started by application of pump voltage VP. In an ECU 30, a power-source IC 33 generates power-supply voltage VCC, and a microcomputer 35 is operated by receiving a supply of the power-supply voltage VCC. Upon completion of start-up of the engine 10, a signal for stopping the pump is issued from the microcomputer 35, a solenoid 25b is excited to open a normally-closed switch 25a, and the power supply to the fuel pump 15 is stopped to bring the fuel pump 15 to a stop.
