A transport package for microbiological specimens comprises a transparent frustoconical vessel 1 closed by a tight-fitting twistable lid 4 which carries a substrate supporting frame 8 having wiping members 7 extending along the edges thereof and in contact with the walls of the vessel 1. The frame 8 is recessed for supporting the substrate which may be nutriant agar. A moisture-absorbing layer of paper may be placed in the bottom of the vessel 1.
