The device has a light energy transferring module (100) for transferring light energy with a preset frequency. A collector module (200) is provided that contains a filter tuned to the preset frequency and a light energy sensor for the detection of energy with the preset energy. A carrier (300) positioned in the path of transferring light energy between the light energy transferring module and the collector module engages the workpiece (12) securely. An independent claim is also included for a method for examining a workpiece on errors, involves transferring of light at a predetermined frequency.
