PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dentifrice composition that has reduced polishing force derived from calcium carbonate and low polishing force in spite of using calcium carbonate as an abrasive, does not cause a liquid separation, has improved foaming, excellent formulation stability and sense of use. SOLUTION: The dentifrice composition comprises (A) calcium carbonate, (B) aluminum hydroxide, (C) sodium sulfate, (D) sodium lauryl sulfate and (E) at least one amphoteric surfactant selected from 2-alkyl-N-carobxymethyl-N-hydroxyethylimidazolinium betaine, alkyldimethylaminoacetic acid betaine and fatty acid amidopropyl betaine in the mixing ratio of component (E)/(D) by mass ratio of 0.25-1.0.
