PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydro-pneumatic suspension having an excellent control responsiveness despite its adopting a comparatively simple and low-cost constitution. SOLUTION: An MLV 26 for pressure control is installed on a piston 24 of an actuator 8, and through it 26, an MRF in an upper liquid chamber 22 flows at all times into a lower liquid chamber 23. An MLV 35 for controlling the damping force is installed in the line of a communication pipe 9 through which the working liquid chamber 34 of an accumulator 10 as buffer is connected with the upper liquid chamber 22 of the actuator 8, and the rate of flow of the MRV passing through the communication pipe 9 is controlled by the MLV 35. When current is fed to the MLV 26 and/or 35, ferro-magnetic particulates 45 in the MRF(s) form a chain-form cluster to cause the viscosity of the MRF to rise, which leads to a change in the ground clearance of each wheel or a change in the damping force.
