PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber assembly including a coil spring reacting between first and second spring seats. SOLUTION: The first spring seat 30 is fixed to a shock absorber cylinder 12 and the second spring seat 32 is fixed to a rod 18 that is slidably received within the shock absorber cylinder 12. An isolator 40 is positioned between an end coil 36, 38 of the spring and at least one of the first and second spring seats 30, 32. The isolator 40 comprises an annular ring that defines a cavity that is at least partially filled with fluid. The isolator 40 evenly distributes non-centered spring end forces through the fluid to reduce the effects of side load forces. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
