PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a cup shape component, which method can prevent the deterioration of the flatness of a bottom surface portion, and can form the cup shape component having a toothed surface on its side wall portion by a small force, and can reduce the size of an apparatus, and further to provide a forming apparatus. SOLUTION: A die 2, a punch 3, and a knockout plate 6 are used when the cup shape component 8 is formed. A blank material piece 80 is held between the punch 3 and the knockout plate 6. Then, the punch 3 and the knockout plate 6 are moved toward the die 2, As a result, the bottom surface portion and the side wall portion are formed by drawing the blank material piece 80 by means of a drawing surface 211 and a punch side teeth forming surface 52. After that, the punch 3 and the knockout plate 6 are furthermore moved toward the die 2, As a result, the toothed surface is formed on the side wall portion by ironing the side wall portion by means of a die side teeth forming surface 221 and the punch side teeth forming surface 52.
