PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a partition device of self-supporting type with a degree of freedom in installation, ensuring aseismatic strength and capable of gently partitioning the interior of a room so as not to give a closed-up feeling. SOLUTION: The partition device comprises a first wall panel 1 and a second wall panel 2 connected and fixed at an approximately right angle to the first wall panel 1. The first wall panel 1 is fixed in a prop state from a floor 3 to the ceiling 4 between them, and the second wall panel 2 is installed on the floor 3 with a space 5 between itself and the ceiling 4. In this case, the first wall panel 1 is erected along one wall surface 7 of the room interior 6, and a passage space 10 is provided between the tip part 8 of the second wall panel 2 on the opposite side to the first wall panel 1 side and the other wall surface 9, facing the tip part 8, of the room interior 6.
