PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axle housing excellent in acoustic vibration characteristic while capable of ensuring the strength and durability, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The axle housing has right and left shaft tube parts, and a center housing center part having an opening part on the forward side and a differential gear case rear part on the backward side in the width direction of a vehicle body. The opening part on the forward side of the housing center part constitutes a part of a peripheral edge of the opening part on the right and left shaft tube part sides. Its apex has a projection part projecting forward of the peripheral edge, and as necessary, a part leading to the projection part from a boundary part between the right and left shaft tube parts and the housing center part is formed of a forwardly convex curved surface, and the differential gear case rear part on the backward side is formed of a backwardly convex curved surface.
