PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope in which stable observation is secured by quickly capturing a subject at the nearly central position of an imaging range, even in the case where the subject is out of the imaging range by the deviation of imaging position due to e.g. disturbance. SOLUTION: The endoscope comprises an imaging means 4 provided with binocular lens 4A at the distal end of a curve part 2, a curvedly driving mechanism 52, acceleration sensors 5A, 5B which detect the position and the posture of curved distal end part 3 and curved proximal end part 8, a distance measuring means for measure the distance between the subject and the binocular lens 4A, a locking button 16a, an unlocking button 16b which respectively start and release the operation of subject capturing, and a controlling part 100 which control the drive of curvedly driving mechanism 52 so that light axis of binocular lens 4A is directed to imaging center in accordance with the change of each detected output, calculating the imaging center from each of the detected output of acceleration sensors 5A, 5B and the distance measuring means.
