TOP COVER MONOLITHIC BACKLIGHT UNIT AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ASSEMBLING METHOD USING THE SAME

A backlight unit and a method for assembling an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) by using the same are provided to make it unnecessary to separately manage a top cover, thereby reducing the cost for material management and simplifying an assembling process of the backlight unit. A bottom cover(112) supports optical sheets mechanically, and has a joining portion(112a) formed on one surface thereof. The optical sheets diffuse or diffract the light emitted from a light source to uniformly supply the light to an LCD panel. A top cover body(114) is joined to three faces of the bottom cover except a face where the joining portion is formed, thereby forming a space for mounting the LCD panel. An edging top cover(120) is joined to the joining portion of the bottom cover to support the LCD panel inserted into the space together with the top cover body.
