PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an operation for a preliminary delivering in a recording operation unnecessary, and to reduce the amount of ink consumed as the preliminary delivering in an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus for delivering ink liquid droplets and forming an image on a recording medium, comprises a means 16 for forming data for delivering which forms the data for delivering the ink on the recording medium. The data for delivering which are formed by the means for forming the data for delivering, includes image data for forming an actual image, and data for the preliminary delivering for performing the preliminary delivering on the actual image. By adding the data for the preliminary delivering to the data for delivering in addition to the image data, and when printing is performed by a recording head, by performing surely ink delivering within a preset time interval or within the dot number, it is prevented that the ink delivering is not performed over the preset time interval or the dot number or larger.
