<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life image forming apparatus capable of using a cleaning blade for a long period by restoring the blade to its original state, using a simple means, even if the blade is turned up. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus which removes unwanted toner sticking on an intermediate transfer belt 32 as an image carrier with the cleaning blade 33, abutting against the belt 32 in a counter direction has a means 37 of separating the cleaning blade 33 from the belt 32, a load-detecting means of detecting the slide load between the belt 32 and cleaning blade 33, and a control means of temporarily stopping the driving of the belt 32, separating the cleaning blade 33 from the belt 32, and driving the belt 32 in reverse by a specified distance, if the slide load between the belt 32 and the cleaning blade 33 detected by the load-detecting means exceeds a prescribed value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
