PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double-layer capacitor wherein only the gas generated in its inside can be exhausted from it independently of its attaching attitude. SOLUTION: The electric double-layer capacitor is such that its polarizable electrodes are immersed in the electrolyte stored in a vessel 3. In the capacitor, gas separating films 11 are so provided on the inner surfaces of the vessel 3 as to cover ventilating holes 9 formed in the vessel 3. Further, on the opposite outside surfaces of the vessel 3 to the ventilating holes 9, there are provided plate-like check valves 13 for allowing the outflow of a gas generated from the inside of the vessel 3, but checking the inflow of a gas fed to the vessel 3. Also, the capacitors are provided internally with the plurality of vessels 3 formed in a case 29, and the gas separating films 11 are provided in the opposite portions of each vessel 3 to the ventilating holes 9. Further, in the opposite portion to a ventilating hole formed in the case 29 provided internally with the vessels 3, there is provided the plate-like check valve 13 for allowing the outflow of a gas generated from the inside of the case 29, but checking the inflow of a gas fed to the case 29. Moreover, with respect to each check valve 13, there is formed constitutionally in its plate-like elastic member 21 a slit 23 which keeps ordinarily a closed state. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
