A method for regenerating a diesel particulate filter is provided to judge the regeneration timing of the diesel particulate filter more accurately and thus to prevent degradation of fuel efficiency. A method for regenerating a diesel particulate filter includes steps(S1~S3) of setting a non-high speed mode, and detecting the amount of collected particulate by dividing a pressure difference by a flow rate of exhaust gas; a step(S4) of comparing the detected amount and a preset regeneration reference amount; and a step(S5) of compulsorily regenerating the diesel particulate filter when the amount of collected particulate exceeds the regeneration reference amount.
