PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for providing information (meaning of data) necessary for practical use of data by disclosing to a user who uses a system data item dictionary practically used in terms of improving the efficiency of system maintenance. SOLUTION: After the data item dictionary is registered, data are referred to via the data item dictionary. The referred information is managed as retrieval history and, by extracting a retrieval pattern from the accumulated retrieval history and disclosing it to the user, the user can check the retrieval pattern high in frequency of reference and can refer to data efficiently.
