The arrangement has ends of front and rear edges (2a, 2b) of a luggage-covering shelf (2) being mounted in mobile on a polygonal shaped rail (3) carried by lateral walls of a motor vehicle. Two parts (21, 22) of the shelve slide relative to each other to vary the distance between the front and rear edges for adapting the dimension of the shelf based on the position of the ends of the front and rear edges on the rail.
