EXHAUST GAS CLEANING FILTER AND MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning filter, which is a filter for removing PM emitted from a diesel engine or the like, demonstrating a high capturing rate even if a PM deposition layer is not formed on the filter.

SOLUTION: A filter made of a porous material such as cordierite and silicon carbide is coated with a heat-resistant material such as an inorganic oxide so that the porous surface of the filter is covered with the heat-resistant material or a three-dimensional linking structure is formed within pores to reduce the diameters of the pores in the filter. Thus, the exhaust gas cleaning filter demonstrating a high capturing rate even if the PM deposition layer is not formed on the filter can be obtained. The exhaust gas cleaning filter having an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst carried thereon can demonstrate a higher capturing rate as well as removing the PM through combustion.
