<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plane light source device, and a display device using it, with alleviated brightness unevenness due to high brightness at a position directly above a light source, without increasing its thickness, and further, with color shading alleviated as well if a light source with a plurality of colors is used. <P>SOLUTION: In the plane light source device, in which a plurality of light sources with an anisotropic brightness distribution and each having an optical axis where the brightness is the highest are arrayed in two dimensions on a substrate, in front of which, light guide plates are arranged in opposition to the plurality of light sources, the plurality of light sources are placed so that the optical axes are aslant toward the light guide plates. Further, a concave part is provided at a position on a rear face of each light guide plate where a point of intersection of the rear face with the optical axis is included. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
