PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manage a stock amount in an apparatus including rejected paper moneys. SOLUTION: The paper money receiving and paying apparatus is provided a mixed paper money stacker and a 10000-yen paper money stacker 14 each of which stores received paper money in accordance with denomination and delivers and pays out stored paper money, a discrimination part 12 for discriminating received or paid paper money, and a mixed paper money reject store 15 and a 10000-yen paper money reject store 16 each of which delivers rejected paper money unsuitable for payment out of paper money delivered from the mixed paper money stacker 13 or the 10000-yen paper money stacker 14 in the case of paying out paper money and stores the rejected paper money correspondingly to the original mixed paper money stacker 13 or the 10000-yen paper money stacker 14. Since all the rejected paper money can be returned to the corresponding mixed paper money stacker 13 or the 10000-yen paper money stacker 14 without discriminating the rejected paper money during maintenance, the stock amount can be easily managed.
