The apparatus has a number of saw-tooth shaped, serrated scraper edges (3, 3', 30, 30') at band sections ( 2, 2', 20, 20'), where the sections are attached to a handle (9) in such a manner that teeth (1, 1', 1'', 10, 10') are provided perpendicular to a scaling surface during scaling of a fish, where the scraper edges lie in a plane. The teeth bent slightly outward have a tooth height of 2.5 millimeter, tooth spacing of 5 mm and a total tooth width of 1.5 to 2 mm. The teeth have a flat area having an acute-angled triangle and adjusted outward, where the area has a base width of 1.0 to 1.5 mm.
