摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably detect an extreme value with sufficient precision, without being excessively influenced by a local noise of a discrete data point. <P>SOLUTION: An extreme value detection method is implemented in a processor which comprises; an input means for inputting data; a storage means to store a program; an operation means which executes the program and processes the data; and an output means which outputs a processing result of the operation means. This method has; a step in which the operation means generates an optimal smoothing spline from a discrete data group or a function inputted from the input means; and a step in which the operation means calculates all extreme values of the optimal smoothing spline, its derivative or a partial derivative by calculating extreme values for each of joint areas of the optimal smoothing spline, its derivative or the partial derivative respectively, and outputs the extreme values to the output means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
