The armrest has an arm support body (4) with height adjustment against a retainer housing (5) that is firmly connected with a door panel of a vehicle. A locking device removably locks the body in different lengths against a retainer housing. A helical compression spring upwardly displaces the body from the retainer housing. The retainer housing has two perpendicular, upwards opened, parallel cylinders (6), where pistons (7) are guided in the cylinders and downwards projects from the body.
