<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image deterioration before switching, and to shorten undecodable time in a decoder receiving a discontinuous stream after the switching when two streams encoded by an H.264 standard are switched over. <P>SOLUTION: Two encoders 1, 4 encode an inputted video signal by using a compression coding system based on H.264, and output signals as compressed signals A, B comprising streams of frame images including IDR slices inserted in each IDR period. A signal changeover switch 8 switches the compressed signals A, B and outputs a compressed signal C. A controller 7 performs control so as to shorten only the IDR period in encoding of the encoder 4 to be selected after switching, before the switching, when the compressed signal C to be outputted from the signal switch 8 is switched from the compressed signal A of the encoder 1 to the compressed signal B of the encoder 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
