METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CARBON NANOTUBE AND CARBON NANOTUBE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a carbon nanotube having a specified size, shape and orientation at a specified place without using high-temperature heat treatment. SOLUTION: The carbon nanotube 6 is manufactured by applying a direct-current voltage at both ends of a carbon linear structure 3 to which a catalyst metal is introduced, where the catalyst metal is deposited and migrated by an electromigration and the region along a trace of the migrated catalyst metal in the carbon linear structure 3 is crystallized to form graphite. The catalyst metal which migrates and reaches the electrode 1 is alloyed with a metal contained in the electrode to form an ohmic joint 8. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
