Method for detecting signal errors in a vehicle speed sensor (1) that generates a pulse sequence dependent on the vehicle speed and transmits it to an evaluation circuit (10). A signal is detected if: in a first measurement period no pulses are detected, in a second preceding measurement period pulses are detected that exceed a threshold value, and if in a third preceding period pulses are detected that exceed a second threshold value, where the second threshold is greater than the first, which is greater than zero.
