PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting cancer cachexia-inducing substances existing in the body fluid, especially circulated blood, of a cancer last stage patient. SOLUTION: This method for detecting the cancer cachexia-inducing substances, especially cell activities lowered by the toxicities of the cachexia-inducing substances, comprises making leukocytes, especially macrophages, to act on the serum of a last stage cancer-bearing rat and then measuring the adhesiveness of the cells. Thereby, the cancer cachexia-inducing substances as a mixture can comprehensively be understood and simply and quickly be detected without separating the cancer cachexia-inducing substances into each substance.
