PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a controller for effective advertisement by effectively using a player utilizing a DVD, a CD, a card, other digital media, and which can be applied simply to an existing player. SOLUTION: The controller is provided with: a ultrasonic wave transmitting part 2; a detection unit 3 receiving the ultrasonic wave and detecting a person; and a DVD player control part 4 in which a detected signal from the detecting part 3 is input and presence of a person in area is discriminated and a remote control signal controlling a DVD player 21 is generated on the basis of this detected result and output. The DVD player control part 4 discriminates that the person enters in an area only when the detected signal of the person from an AND circuit 12 is input, generates the remote control signal of the DVD player 21 and outputs it, and discriminates that the person has left the area when absence of the detection signal of the person from an OR circuit 13 is continued for a time more than a preliminarily set absence detection confirming time, and generates a remote control signal finishing operation of the DVD player 21 and outputs it.
