<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IPS (in-plane switching) type liquid crystal display apparatus with significantly improved display quality and viewing angle characteristics in a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The invention provides a polarizing plate integrated optical compensation film comprising a polarizing film and a retardation film, wherein the polarization film has an absorption axis parallel to the longitudinal direction, and the retardation film consists of a cellulose acylate film having a substituent showing the polarizability anisotropy Δα expressed by formula (1):Δα=αx-(αy+αz)/2 in a range of (2.5 to 30)×10<SP>-24</SP>cm<SP>-3</SP>. The retardation film has retardation values satisfying formula (a):50 nm≤¾Re(590)¾≤330 nm and formula (b):-100 nm≤Rth(590)≤0, and has a slow phase axis substantially perpendicular or parallel to the longitudinal direction of the retardation film. In formula (1), αx, αy, αz represent eigen values obtained by diagonalizing the polarizability tensor and satisfy αx≥αy≥αz.
