PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid detergent composition for clothes that exhibits high deterging power on mud stains. SOLUTION: The liquid detergent composition for clothes comprises (A) 2-50 mass% of a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether where the number of carbon in the alkyl group is 10-20 and the average molar number of added ethylene oxide is 3-26, (B) a compound represented by general formula (I) [wherein X, Y and Z are each independently H, C<SB>n'</SB>H<SB>2n'+1</SB>or (CH<SB>3</SB>)<SB>2</SB>CH (wherein n' is an integer of 1-3); and M is H, an alkali metal atom, an alkaline earth metal atom, NH<SB>4</SB><SP>+</SP>, or an alkanolamine], (C) a semipolar surfactant and/or an amphoteric surfactant, and (D) 1-hydroxyethane-1,1-diphosphonic acid or a salt thereof.
