PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance swirl with a method not increasing pumping loss, in an intake control device for an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: A communication passage 12 is branched from a first intake port 8 to communicate with a second intake port 10. A selector valve 14 is provided to switch a direction of a flow of air taken into the first intake port 8 between a first flow direction wherein the air directly passes through the first intake port 8 and flows into a first intake port 4 and a second flow direction where the air flows into the second intake port 6 through the communication passage 12. During an intake stroke of a cylinder, it is preferable that the selector valve 14 should be operated in or around full opening of the intake valve, and the direction of the flow of the air taken into the first intake port 8 is switched from the first flow direction to the second flow direction.
