PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing fence capable of serving as both a snowslide preventive fence and a falling-rock preventive fence. SOLUTION: Rope materials 20a and 20b are arranged on the opposite side of the intrusion side of a collision object to a column 10b, and the rope material 20b is installed on the column 10b via a hold releasing device 50 for releasing a hold of the rope material 20b when a lateral force of a specific value or more acts on the rope material 20b.
