The invention relates to a hair removing device (1) which comprises a housing (2) and an actuator head (7) which can be displaced in the housing (2). An actuator system (9, 10) for removing hair is embodied in the actuator head (7) and can be driven by an electric drive device (11, 44) which is arranged in the hair removing device (1). The actuator system (9, 10) can be placed in at least one active position (22) relating to the hair. According to the invention, the actuator head (7) can be freely rotated in the housing (2) about a rotational axis (8) in order to adjust an active position (22). As a result, various hair treating systems, for example, cutting long hair, cutting short hair and epilation, can be used using one single hair removing device. The actuator head (7) can only rotate about the bearing axis (8) thereof until the cutting unit (9, 10), provided for the corresponding hair treating process, is rotated on the actuator plane (22). Production costs can be kept low due to the fact that several hair treating step can be carried out using only one single device (2).
