PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to acquire additional information of latest map information in a shorter time than before neither too much nor too little in the in-vehicle computer storing map information. SOLUTION: There is provided a method of acquiring the additional information of the map information from the server system connected through the network in the vehicle mountable computer storing map information, including the following steps: the step for memorizing the positional information of a vehicle, the step for determining the movable range from the positional information, the step for requiring the additional information of the map information by transmitting the information for specifying the movable range of the vehicle to the server system, and the step for obtaining the additional information of the map information within the movable range of the vehicle from the server system.
