PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cefdinir which solves a problem that conventional crystalline cefdinir is slightly soluble in water, and has high solubility in water. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to amorphous cefdinir which does not contain crystalline cefdinir and is substantially amorphous, to a method for producing the same, and to a pharmaceutical composition containing the same. The amorphous cefdinir of the present invention has strong peaks at places near 1765 cm<SP>-1</SP>, 1530 cm<SP>-1</SP>and 1350 cm<SP>-1</SP>in an infrared absorption spectrum by a potassium bromide tablet method, and shows a dissolution amount of 125 to 285μg/mL in a 25°C acetate buffer solution (pH 2.0 to 6.0). The amorphous cefdinir of the present invention can be produced by the precipitation of a cefdinir solution with a low dissolvability solvent, spray drying, lyophilization, or crushing.
